Summer camps are in full swing across the state, including the Channel 3 Kids Camp in Andover.
The Liberty Bank SurPRIZE Squad had a special surprise planned for campers on Wednesday.
The camp runs solely on donations and is a non-profit organization.
“It's been well-publicized that we've had a very tough, very challenging past year,” said Denise Hornbecker, CEO, Channel 3 Kids Camp. “I'm very happy to say that we're starting to come out of this, and we're much better here; but, the everyday things that we need to make this a positive experience for kids, they're not cheap.”
The squad was able to get ahold of the camp’s wish list, which contained things that campers could really use this summer.
So it unpacked the supplies and set up a display that awaited campers outside for a big reveal.
“Surprise!” yelled the squad as it unveiled the items, which included toys, helmets and games.
The children said they couldn’t wait to put everything to good use.
“I love it,” one said. “This is amazing.”
“We can play sports now and have a bunch of fun,” another said. “And the butterfly nets! Yeah, we can get butterflies.”
“I don't think you guys realize how much this actually means to us,” said Luke Smith, manager, Channel 3 Kids Camp. “It's just going to make our summer a lot easier and a lot more fun, so thank you.”
