Sex offender found inside ice cream truck with 13-year-old

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

A wanted man was found by West Hartford police inside of an ice cream truck with a 13-year-old on Wednesday.

Police said they were contacted by Hartford police about a wanted man who was operating an ice cream truck in the area of Hillcrest Avenue in West Hartford on Wednesday.

The truck was found on New Britain Avenue and the driver initially identified himself as Andrew Evans.

Police said the name revealed an active arrest warrant and he was taken into custody.

Fingerprints taken were identified as those of 36-year-old Tylon Jarrett, who was found to be on supervised release from the Hartford Adult Sex Offender Unit and was not supposed to be in contact with anyone under the age of 16.

The 13-year-old child was found inside of the vehicle and said his mother owned the ice cream truck

She responded to the scene and took custody of the truck and her son.

Jarrett was charged with criminal impersonation and interfering with an officer.

He was held on a $10,000 bond and is expected to appear in court on July 8.
