Fireworks are entertaining for most people, but can be terrifying for our four-legged friends.
Veterinarians said the booming sounds of fireworks displays can be traumatizing for dogs and cats and cause some to run away.
Vets said the best place for your pet during the fourth of July is actually indoors.
"If you can put on either music or the TV to drown out the noise that they'll sometimes help to calm them down,” Dr. Ashley Virgilio, of the Animal Hospital of Rocky Hill, said.
Vets also reminded pet owners to make sure their animals are wearing proper identification, so they can be found if they do run away.
