Hamden police are investigating an apparent homicide after a body was found wrapped in plastic on Wintergreen Street.
Police responded to a call at about 11:15 this morning, which is when the body was found.
On Sunday, State Police told Eyewitness News that they recovered a vehicle of interest, but they are still investigating whether it is connected to this incident.
According to police, there was also an explosion in the same area, which harmed the body.
It is still being investigated whether the explosion is connected to the body.
Police determined the body was located on the property of West Rock State park and the investigation was turned over to the Central District Major Crime Squad.
Connecticut State Police said the bomb squad is assisting with an investigation in Hamden. The FBI, Yale police and New Haven police are also assisting with the investigation.
Police said they are looking for two men with olive skin, around 5'9", weighing around 175 pounds, who were in the area at the time of the incident. The driver may have been wearing a tan flannel shirt, ear length dark wig and sunglasses. The passenger may have been wearing sunglasses and short.
The suspects may be in a gold or champagne colored Nissan Altima. The rear license plate on the car is a Florida plate, which is believed to have the numbers "AZA1 --9." There was no front plate on the car.
Some neighbors who heard the explosion assumed it was just Fourth of July fireworks. Peter Palmieri told Eyewitness News he thought someone set off a bunch of M-80s right outside of his door.
"These windows and this door shook, that's how loud it was and then about a half an hour later a young man came by and he said that someone had died there," Palmieri explained.
There is no identification of the body that was found at this time. Hamden police are still investigating this incident.
State police said there is not threat to the community at this time and it appears to be an isolated incident.
