Mainly light rain expected to fall overnight

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Heavy and widespread rain was expected to hit Connecticut and cause issues for the Thursday evening commute, however the storms diminished as the evening went on.

A flash flood watch was in place for part of the entire state for late Thursday afternoon through the evening, but it was canceled by Thursday evening.

Mainly lighter rain is expected to fall overnight into early Friday morning, Chief Meteorologist Bruce DePrest said.

DePrest said the Early Warning Forecast calls for the rain to end by early Friday morning.

“The workweek will end on a pleasant note with the cold front finally moving away from New England,” he said. “High pressure will move in from the west ushering in better conditions.”

There may be some fog with which to contend, but otherwise Friday is expected to be partly sunny.

"Friday evening will feature a partly cloudy sky with temperatures falling to the low 60’s. With the lower humidity it will be a comfortable night for sleeping," DePrest said.
