The only New England multi-genre pop culture convention, ConnectiCon, is expected to bring thousands of people to the capital city this weekend.
The lobby and parking lot for the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford were packed on Thursday as patrons were preparing to get their weekend passes.
There 300 volunteer members were working to get the Con ready for the fun-packed weekend. Last year, about 14,000 people attended ConnectiCon and this year, even more people were expected to attend the event.
The event features exhibitors, artists' colony, celebrity guests, panels, workshops, main events, console gaming, Tokyo attack arcade, tabletop games, league of legends open, Roleplaying and Cosplay.
The event will feature several guests including some of the original Power Rangers, Amber Benson of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Deep Roy, Dean Haglund, Phil LaMarr, Tony Todd and Samm Levinne.
A group of friends from the University of Hartford founded Connecticon in 2002 to help bring a convention with various genres closer for New England.
ConnectiCon runs Thursday until Midnight, Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Ticket prices are $75 for the whole weekend while its $40 for Friday, $50 for Saturday and $30 for Sunday.
