Big plans are underway to get another baseball team in New Britain.
On Thursday, New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart met with baseball big wigs to get the ball rolling on a replacement team.
The Rock Cats are headed to Hartford, and there are still bitter feelings.
Some are trying to turn a losing streak into a home run and trying to figure out what can be done with the stadium.
"We went in every nook and cranny at the stadium -- we walked all over the outfield,” Stewart said.
She spent two hours with people from The Atlantic, an independent baseball league.
"I think the deal clincher will be in what we do as a community- as a city for the next month...that we show them we are committed,” Stewart said.
Some improvements would have to be made but she said she feels the stadium has a built-in fan base.
She’s also looking at other independents like The Canadian American and The Futures.
Stewart said it is all about family fun and keeping New Britain as a place for baseball fans.
"I know a lot of people in New Britain who were mad they were leaving. It would be good to have another team come and stay,” said Anthony Alocca who works at the stadium.
Stewart said the meeting was productive and said she plans to go to other cities to see what other stadiums are like.
The goal is to get a team by next spring.
