MARS, PA (CNN) -

A dog with a remarkable appetite has generated headlines across the country.

Tiki, a black lab from Mars, PA, had 62 hairbands and eight pars of underwear in her stomach.

Veterinarians said she first arrived to them with a stomach ache.

They said that’s when they discovered enough hair bands for nearly seven softball teams and enough underwear to last more than a week.

And that’s not all.

"I started pulling handfuls of different items out," said Emily Cottle, a head vet technician.

The black lab bounced back quickly from emergency surgery last week. Before that, however, troubling x-rays showed a mysterious mass in her belly.

Dr. Hisham Ibrahim of Good Shepherd’s Veterinary Hospital said he removed the surprise evidence of Tiki’s unusual treats.

"And I found this hair band, attached to another hair band, to another one, to another one, and to other things again as I said,” Cottle said. "Four rubber bands, a band aid, eight pairs of underwear, and 62 hairbands is a lot to be in a dog's stomach.  Especially of Tiki's size."

Removing all of it was like a magician pulling a long string of scarves out of a hat, Ibrahim said.

"That's exactly what's going on, it was just amazing,” he said. “And it's not easy, but thank God we were able to pull through and Tiki's recovered very well."

Sara Weiss, Tiki’s owner said he’s eaten some unusual items before, like a Nerf dart. She said the pooch was able to pass it.

Ibrahim said he recently removed 15 pacifiers from a different dog, so he’s no stranger to emergencies like this.

"I was there for the pacifiers and many other different items, but not something that big,” Cottle said.

Ibrahim said Tiki couldn’t have eaten everything in one big meal.

"I believe it [was] accumulating,” he said.
