A man running from Maine to California made a stop in Connecticut on Friday.
Moninda Marube, originally from Kenya, began his trek one week ago.
He started in Auburn, ME and ran to Putnam.
The professional runner said he knew making the 3,700 mile trek across the country would be an opportunity to share his story.
Marube said he came to America with dreams of pursuing his career, but ended up being held up for several months before breaking free.
“You're living in a land of opportunity, but that land of opportunity was not an opportunity for me because I never could exercise my freedom,” Marube said.
He added that he runs between 30 and 40 miles per day, six days per week.
