The fun began on Friday at the 38th annual Sailfest.
The festival was well underway on Friday at the famous waterfront, with three days of entertainment and food and the famous fireworks display.
This edition of Sailfest is Celebrating the Sea, with a special salute to the U.S. Coast Guard on its 225th birthday.
Sailfest is also about the sails. Guests can get a tour of the replica of the Amistad docked at the Custom House Pier, or check out the other sailing vessels that have pulled into the ancient whaling port.
The event is a major draw for downtown businesses as visitors frequent the numerous restaurants.
The fireworks extravaganza will be held on Saturday night on the river, drawing upwards of 300,000 people.
