WALLINGFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Two people were arrested after police seized drugs, pellet guns and cash during a raid in Wallingford early Monday morning.

After investigating reports of illegal drug activity in Meriden, members of the Meriden Police Department's Crime Suppression Unit and SWAT team raided a home in 1200 block of Old Colony Road.

Meriden police, who were assisted by the Wallingford Police Department, seized the following items:

  • two pellet/BB guns that closely resemble actual firearms
  • a pound and a half of crack cocaine
  • More than $30,000

Police said there was a young child in the home at the time of raid. The Department of Children’s and Families was notified about the incident.

Police said the Department of Social Services was contacted after police determined that the two were possibly misusing their EBT cards.

Police charged 27-year-old Wesley Northrup, of Wallingford, with possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a drug factory, interfering with an officer and risk of injury to child/impairing morals.

Police charged 26-year-old Denise Hernandez, of Wallingford, with risk of injury to child/impairing morals, destruction of property, interfering with a search warrant and interfering with an officer.

Both are being held on a $50,000 bond. They are expected to be arraigned at Meriden Superior Court on July 23.
