The owner of a Watertown jewelry store was robbed and beaten in broad daylight, and the suspects made off with thousands in golf, silver and diamonds.
The robbery happened at Jon’s Jewelry on Main Street in Watertown on Saturday.
“He ran inside with blood all over him, he got jumped by three people, that's insane,” said Jillian Sanzone of Watertown.
John Anchini has owned the store for 18 years, which has been a Watertown landmark, but police said it was targeted by three robbers, two of them were women.
“Two females, went in and created a distraction to him, and when he turned around, he was pushed to the ground from behind by the male subject and was punched in the face while he was on the ground,” said Watertown Deputy Chief R.J. Desena.
Anchini recovered and was back at work on Monday where he spent the day taking stock of what was left.
Police said the inventory may be low because the violent robbers cleaned him out.
“A significant amount of jewelry was taken from the establishment,” Desena said.
Descriptions and surveillance videos are still being processed, and neighbors said they hope for a quick arrest to restore the sense of security.
Anyone with information should call Watertown police.
