PD: Man injured after falling off roof of old Kmart in Torrington

TORRINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

A man was seriously injured after police said he fell off the roof while trying to steal copper from an abandoned Kmart in Torrington early Wednesday morning.  

The incident was reported at 681 Main St. around 1:45 a.m. 

Police said 33-year-old Jason Alexson, of Torrington, was rushed to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and then transferred to Hartford Hospital where he was in critical condition.

Alexson and 33-year-old Jacob Newman were in the process of taking copper from the air conditioning units on the roof when the fall occurred, according to police.

Newman was arrested and charged with first-degree larceny, first-degree criminal trespass and first-degree criminal mischief. His bond was not set at this time.
