MADISON, CT (WFSB) -

This weekend, the state will start collecting a 6.35 percent sales tax on the parking fees for state parks.

In-state residents will may $13.83 at Hammonasset State Park, Rocky Neck State Park or Sherwood Island.

On weekdays it will cost $9.57.

Eventually all parts that charge parking fees will add the sales tax, but the state is implementing it gradually.
