Pratt and Whitney broke ground on its new state-of-the-art global headquarters and engineering facility.
The 425,000 square foot building is expected to be finished in late 2017.
The groundbreaking happened exactly 86 years after the company broke ground on its current East Hartford facility.
The same shovel that was used in 1929 was also used on Thursday.
