Route 7 in New Milford was closed in both directions for hours on Friday morning after a police pursuit that ended with the suspect crashing near Route 37.
Troopers attempted to stop a motor vehicle on I-84 between exits 11 and 10. However police said the driver refused to stop, which forced them to "deploy stop sticks" around exit 6.
The stop sticks caused the vehicle to drive off the road and that is when police said a trooper fired toward the vehicle. The bullet hit the vehicle, but no one was hit by the shot.
The vehicle continued through several towns including into New York. The driver would crash in the area of Route 7 near Route 37, according to police.
The unidentified driver, who police said was intoxicated, was taken to Danbury Hospital for evaluation, police said.
The trooper was evaluated, but reported no injuries to police.
The northbound and southbound sides of Route 7 was closed between Route 37, also known as Sherman Road, and Boardman Road until about 10:15 a.m. The crash has also closed the westbound side of Interstate 84 between exits 5 and 7 until around 9 a.m.
