A SWAT team responded to a home in Willimantic early Saturday morning after reports of a man being barricaded in the home.
At about 2 a.m., Willimantic police responded to 22 Emerald Ave. after a man threatened to harm himself within the home.
The male, who was possibly armed, refused to come out of the apartment after police made contact with him.
According to police, after several hours of negotiating with the man, Willimantic SWAT team entered the apartment and took the man into custody without any issues.
Police are not identifying the male, but he was transported to Windham Community Memorial Hospital for psychological treatment.
Several apartments in close proximity to the apartment the man was in were evacuated by the SWAT team. Other residents who live in neighboring houses were asked to stay in their home.
The incident ended around 6:30 a.m.
