A Bridgeport teen is in the hospital this morning after being struck by a vehicle in New Haven.
Police said the 17-year-old victim as attempting to cross Whalley Avenue near the intersection of Ella T. Grasso Boulevard around 10 p.m. Saturday when he was hit.
The offending vehicle fled the scene west onto Blake Street before police arrived.
Witnesses told police the vehicle involved was an older-model white Mitsubishi Eclipse with dark tinted windows and a rear spoiler. It is also believed to have a cracked windshield.
The teen was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment of serious, life-threatening injuries.
According to witnesses, the teen was attempting to cross the road outside the marked crosswalk.
Police are asking for the public's help in locating the vehicle and driver. Anyone who may have information into its whereabouts is asked to call the New Haven Police Department at 203-946-6316.
