MANCHESTER, CT (WFSB) -

A Vernon man was killed after a crash involving a box truck on an on-ramp off of Interstate 84 in Manchester on Wednesday morning.

The Department of Transportation said the Interstate-384 west on-ramp to I-84 eastbound was shut down after a crash around 6:30 a.m. 

Police said 53-year-old Gregory Hamilton was driving on Spencer Street on-ramp when police said he left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.  

The ramp was closed until around 12:30 p.m.  

The motorcycle sustained heavy front end damage and had to be towed to Tolland Auto.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information about the crash is asked to call state police at 860-534-100.
