NEW BRITAIN, CT (WFSB) -
The Channel 3 Liberty Bank SurPRIZE Squad sough to honor a local woman who does goes above and beyond what is required of them in the workplace.
The Central Connecticut Arc is a private, non-profit organization that supports those with intellectual disabilities.
It’s also where Jessica Koromanian works. She manages one of the CCARC’s 11 group homes.
“She has the heart and compassion to do that,” said Anne Ruwet, CEO, CCARC. “To me that's the key component to a good employee.”
The Liberty Bank SurPRIZE Squad received an anonymous nomination about Koromanian and the motherly love she exudes, not just at home with her own two daughters, but with her peers and the five women she oversees in her group home.
“The residents here just absolutely adore her,” said Julie Erickson, senior vice president, CCARC. “I couldn't think of a better person. Honestly. Couldn't think of a better person than Jessica.”
The squad arrived at CCARC in New Britain Wednesday morning to recognize Koromanian.
However, it had to be careful not to run into her.
She was in a special meeting at the time. The only way to surprise her was to barge into it.
Koromanian was caught off guard.
After the squad read her nomination, it revealed the surprise.
Six Flags donated 10 tickets for her and the women in her group home.
For her two girls at home, a little family fun pack was put together. The squad bought tickets to Lake Compounce in Bristol, the Mystic Aquarium and Mystic Seaport, Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport and Quassy Amusement Park in Middlebury.
“It's nice to know that someone thought of me and did that on their own time to surprise me,” Koromanian said. “It's a very sweet gesture. And the girls at the house will be very happy, and my girls as well at home.”
