Sacred Heart University head football coach Mark Nofri is in the midst of a six month regimen of chemotherapy to treat colon cancer.
Nofri, 45, was diagnosed following the end of last season when the Pioneers where they were nationally ranked and in the national playoffs for the second straight year.
"Nofri is in good spirits and has remained at work during the treatment, and is expecting to be on the sidelines for opening day," SHU said in a release on Wednesday.
Now, the Pioneers partnered with the Colon Cancer Alliance. They will be hosting the Blue Out Game on Nov. 7.
"The Pioneers will wear a blue ribbon on their helmets this season in support of Coach Nofri," SHU said.
