Police identify victim in Berlin Turnpike crash

BERLIN, CT (WFSB) -

Police released the identity of a motorcyclist who was killed in a crash on the Berlin Turnpike on Sunday.

They said 26-year-old Nelson Gonzalez of Meriden died when his bike crash into the side of a car making a u-turn at the turnpike's intersection with Overhill Road in Berlin.

The crash happened on Sunday.

Gonzalez was taken by ambulance to Mid-State Medical Center in Meriden where he was pronounced dead.

The woman in the car, identified as 29-year-old Carolyn Longyear of Cromwell, was taken to Hartford Hospital and underwent surgery. Police said she is listed as being in guarded condition.

The Mid-State Accident Reconstruction Squad was said to be assisting in the investigation.
