Police arrested a Hartford man in connection with the fatal shooting of a capitol city resident at the end of May.
Jonathan M. Contrera was charged with murder and carrying a pistol without a permit on Monday after police said he shot and killed 23-year-old Alexis Marrero.
The fatal shooting was reported by Shot Spotter and 911 calls on May 26 around 11:15 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located Marrero suffering from gunshot wounds to the torso and hand inside the Ciales Grocery store.
Marrero was rushed to Hartford Hospital where he died just before 2 a.m. on May 27.
After an investigation by the Hartford Police Major Crimes Division, Marshals Fugitive Task Force and HPD Shooting Task Force, Contrera was located at the Southington Motel 6. Police arrested him at the door of the motel room without further incident.
