HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

WFSB teamed up with Shatterproof Challenge to rappel down the Hartford Hilton.

Meteorologist Mark Dixon braved the potentially record-setting temperatures to emcee and participate.

He and a number of others rappelled down the 22 story building.

He was joined by Channel 3's General Manager Klarn DePalma and Creative Services Director Greg Thomas who also rappelled down the side of the Hartford Hilton early this afternoon.

Shatterproof is an organization that seeks to protect children from addiction to alcohol or drugs and looks to help those who suffer.

Proceeds from the challenge will go towards helping the 25 million Americans affected by addiction, according to Shatterproof.

This was the second year in a row that WFSB took the challenge.
