SOUTHINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

A Portland man is facing charges after police said he was allegedly inappropriately touching himself at Lake Compounce.

Police said a park guest reportedly observed 29-year-old Tyler Bhulai sitting on a bench in the water park area inappropriately touching himself on Tuesday.

Lake Compounce security responded to the water park and said they observed the same behavior.

There were about 6,000 people in attendance at the park that day with numerous adults and children in the area at the time of the incident.

"Wow. That's pretty preposterous. If you come to a park like this, have the mentality there's going to be kid's present. I think it's pretty degrading," said Alberto Rivera, who said he has now learned the real reason why staffers ordered he and his family and others out of the park.

The Riveras have season passes and are enjoying the park all week. Rivera said he is thankful his children didn't witness anything inappropriate.

"Just tell him to try and regroup himself. To think of the consequences behind what he's doing," Rivera said.

Bhulai was arrested and charged with public indecency, second-degree breach of peace, risk of injury and impairing morals.

He was released on a $10,000 bond and is expected to appear in court on Aug. 10.
