Fire crews from several communities have been called in to assist South Windsor firefighters on scene of a fire at a church.
Crews were called to St. Peter's Episcopal Church on Sand Hill Road around 8 a.m. Saturday to find smoke and flames in the basement of the building.
Officials said the fire did not impact the sanctuary section of the building.
Firefighters from Manchester, Broad Brook and Ellington responded to the scene to assist the South Windsor Fire Department.
There is no word on if anyone was in the church at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
