Teen killed in Glastonbury Route 2 crash

GLASTONBURY, CT (WFSB) -

One person is dead following a crash that happened during the Thursday morning commute in Glastonbury.

State police identified the victim as 18-year-old Erik Brandon Blades of East Hartford.

Route 2 westbound in Glastonbury reopened around 7:45 a.m. following a closure, according to state police.

The crash happened between exit 8 and 5D.

Troopers said Blades was traveling west just before exit 5D when he lost control of his Honda Accord. They said he struck a tree along the right shoulder of the highway.

Blades was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin was notified, troopers said.

What caused the driver to lose control remains under investigation.
