COS COB, CT (WFSB) -

Police said they're looking into the death of a passenger Friday morning.

Metro-North said the investigation is in the Cos Cob section of Greenwich.

Police confirmed that the passenger was struck by a train. The train was headed to New Haven from Grand Central Terminal in New York City.

Officials said a woman dropped her wallet onto the tracks and went to retrieve it and was struck.

Police continue to investigate how it happened. They only identified the woman as being a 28-year-old Connecticut resident.

The train was an express traveling about 45 miles per hour at the time.

Passengers on that train had been transferred to another train and saw a  30 to 40 minute delay.

Delays of 15 to 20 minutes were reported on the New Haven line and at the New Canaan and Waterbury branches.

Metro-North advised riders to listen for announcements.

Delay information can be found on the rail service's website here.

An autopsy will be conducted. Police said it will be a few days before they announce the cause of the accident.
