A boating accident in Haddam sent one woman to the hospital and injured another person on Sunday evening.
At about 6 p.m., State EnCon Police responded with Haddam Fire Department and EMS to a report of people with injuries from a boat propeller in the waters of the Connecticut River.
According Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protections, a 23-year-old woman sustained severe lacerations to her lower extremities from the propeller of a 26' vessel. She was transported by ambulance to Hartford Hospital where she is in stable condition.
The second victim, a male who is the owner of the boat, sustained minor lacerations and refused medical treatment.
The victims jumped off the back of the boat to swim in the Connecticut River.
According to DEEP, another person on the boat restarted the boat and tried to move it closer to the victims.
There was a total of six people on the boat at the time of the accident.
The man who restarted the boat was charged by EnCon Police with Reckless Operation of a Vessel while under the influence.
None of their identities are being released at this time.
