Environmental officials released the names of the people involved in a serious boating accident that happened on Sunday in Haddam.
Joseph Borruso, 22, of Woodbridge, was charged with first-degree reckless operation of a vessel while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said 23-year-old Stephanie Ryan of Bethany had to be taken to Hartford Hospital after suffering injuries from the boat's propellers. Ryan was listed in stable condition with injuries to her lower extremities.
The owner of the boat, Ronald Borruso, Jr., of Hamden, was also in the water and suffered injuries, according to DEEP. He was not seriously hurt.
DEEP said the victims jumped off the boat to swim in the Connecticut River. It said Joseph Borruso decided to restart the boat and move it closer to the swimmers.
Six people were on board the vessel at the time.
