Police are searching for a man accused of exposing himself on a popular Connecticut hiking and biking trail.
A 70-year-old woman was walking on the Farmington Canal Line in Hamden on Friday around 1:30 p.m. when she told police a man asked her for the time. While looking down, she said he “exposed himself and touched her with his genitalia.”
The unidentified man then fled the area on a bicycle headed southbound on the Farmington Canal Line.
The suspect is being described as man between the ages 18 to 23 about 6’2” and weighing 250 lbs.
"It certainly isn't the right use of the trail. Unfortunately things like that do happen. I mean they shouldn't but they do unfortunately," said Martin Schoenfeld.
The first time of indecent exposure was reported on the morning of June 6. A 19-year-old woman told police that an elderly man “exited a wooded area and exposed himself.”
In neither incident, the woman reported being injured.
"It bothers me that there's someone out there doing things and not getting caught," said Zach Melberg, who uses the trail.
Anyone with any information about the suspect or the incident is asked to call the Hamden Police Department Major Crimes Division at 203-230-4040.
