A man in Bridgeport was arrested for attacking an officer and harassing bar patrons, police said.
Christian Hernandez, 22, was arrested after officers asked him and two other people to vacate the area near El Conquistador Sports Bar on Crescent Avenue.
Police said they were called around 1:25 a.m. on Sunday.
When they arrived, they found the three suspects drinking alcohol outside of the business.
The business's security told officers that the suspects were asked to leave because they had been harassing customers.
The suspects ignored an officer's commands to put down the alcohol and became verbally combative. They also encroached on the officer.
Once another officer arrived, the suspects were separated.
One suspect, identified as Hernandez, attacked one of the officers while he was handcuffing another suspect. He also cursed at the officer and threatened violence, according to police.
Hernandez was stopped by the second officer before he could hurt anyone, police said.
After being transported to St. Vincent's Hospital for treatment and clearance of an old injury, police said Hernandez attacked an EMT.
He was charged with possession and consumption of alcohol, first-degree criminal trespass, second-degree breach of peace, interfering with an officer and two counts of criminal attempt to assault public safety personnel, one for the officer and the EMT.
