TORRINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

Swimming areas for three state parks have closed due to poor water quality.

On Wednesday, officials said Burr Pond State Park in Torrington, Gardner Lake State Park in Salem, and Gay City State Park in Hebron were closed.

Water samples are collected by officials from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to ensure that the areas are safe for swimming.

Samples are expected to be collected again on Thursday.
