Police closed New Britain Avenue in Farmington for what they called a "construction accident."
The closure is in place between Roma Drive and Coppermine Road.
Police said a construction with Barber Utilities was digging a hole while repairing a severed water main from an earlier incident and was injured.
The worker pierced what appeared to be an underground electrical line and was shocked.
Police said the worker did not lose consciousness and walked to an ambulance.
The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.
The incident is being investigated by Connecticut OSHA.
