MERIDEN, CT (WFSB) -

Meriden police seized over one kilogram of heroin on Monday.

They said it is believed to be the city’s largest heroin bust in history.

Investigators were dispatched to Stop & Shop for the report of an employee selling narcotics.

Jonathan Willette, 24, was arrested and faces numerous drug charges.

When police entered his home on Meetinghouse Village on Monday they found 19 bags of heroin, a handgun and a rifle.

However, they later learned Willette had told another person to take a safe out of his apartment.

When the safe was brought to police, they found over one kilogram of heroin in 4,600 bags, along with another 76 grams of heroin in rock form, police confirmed.

Also inside of the safe were two guns, oxycodone pills and cash.

Willette is expected to appear in court on Aug. 25.
