A man is accused of trying to buy iPads with fake $100 bills.
According to police, Jonathan Cruz, 22, of Brooklyn, NY, went into a store at The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk in South Windsor on Aug. 13.
A store manager approached an officer and alerted him to Cruz's attempt.
Police said they were able to determine that the bills were counterfeit and located the suspect.
Cruz denied knowing that the bills were face. After an investigation, police arrested him.
He was charged with first-degree forgery and held on a $5,000 surety bond.
Cruz faced a judge in Manchester on Aug. 14.
