A motor vehicle crash closed Baker Road in Vernon for about two hours on Tuesday morning.
Baker Road was closed between Reservoir and Bamforth Roads after a one-vehicle crash around 4 a.m. Authorities said the vehicle caught on fire after hitting a tree. Crews were able to quickly put out the car fire, police said.
One person was in the in car and was rushed to Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford. The driver, whose name was not released, was in stable condition, police said.
Crews worked to pull the vehicle out of a heavily-wooded area. Police reopened Baker Road, which is a dim road with very few street lights, around 6 a.m.
The cause of crash remains under investigation.
