A 6-year-old child died in a crash on Route 8 in Shelton on Tuesday afternoon.
She was identified as Nyah Marcano of Ansonia.
Police said a 2010 Acura TL was rear-ended by a 2014 Ford F150 pick-up truck after stopping for traffic jam on the northbound side of Route 8 near exit 12 around 3:15 p.m. Police said the pickup truck was hit by 2002 Chevy Tahoe.
The impact of the crash sent the pickup truck down the embankment of the center median, police said.
During the crash, Nyah was ejected from the Tahoe. Police said the child died due to injuries suffered in the crash.
Police said it's unknown whether the child was properly restrained.
All the other people in the Tahoe were rushed to Bridgeport Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford F150 was taken to Griffin Hospital with a “possible injury,” police said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
All three vehicles were towed from the scene, police said.
