NEW LONDON, CT (WFSB) -

Police are investigating a shooting that left three people hurt outside of a nightclub in New London.

The shooting was reported outside the Nowhere Cafe on Colman Street around 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

They said they first responded to a call for "shots fired" in the area. They found a victim in the parking lot of an adjacent Aaron's Rent to Own business. Police said the victim had been shot in the upper thigh and had to be transported to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.

A second victim arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said. That victim was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

A third victim, according to police, went to Yale-New Haven Hospital with a gunshot wound to the back and abdomen area.

Police said all three shootings appear to be related.

They said a motive has not been determined. However, detectives suspect that the gunfight may be part of a feud between two gangs.

"We're looking into that aspect right now," said Peter Reichard, New London deputy police chief. "It appears that one group targeted another group in the parking lot."

The names of the victims were withheld.

Police said they wrapped up their investigation at the scene earlier in the morning. They said their uniform patrol and investigative division is looking into the case.

It is unclear if any arrests have been made.
