Ground was broken Tuesday on improvements to a state veterans cemetery in Middletown.
The State Veterans Cemetery on Bow Lane was made possible through a more than $2 million grant. It helped cover the costs necessary to improve and enhance the cemetery, according to state officials.
"What a great day and what a great demonstration of support for our veterans here in Connecticut," said Sean Connolly, commissioner, Department of Veterans Affairs. "Thanks to all our veteran [and] our veterans service organizations for making this possible and making this a wonderful morning."
Gov. Dannel Malloy and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman were also on hand for the event.
Some of the upgrades included construction roads as well as landscaping over the three acres of property.
