Groton family falls victim to 'swatting'

Posted: Updated:

Police in Groton said they are investigating a "swatting" incident that happened on Thursday afternoon.

Around 3:40 p.m., they said they responded to a home on Hazelnut Hill Road for a report of a family being held against their will.

After establishing a perimeter and alerting neighbors, police said the family inside came out and was unaware of any reported crime.

Everyone living at the home was accounted for and found to be safe, according to investigators.

Officers continued to check the area to make sure and cleared the scene.

There's no word on who placed the swatting call.
