Hit-and-run suspect sought after bicyclist struck in Shelton

SHELTON, CT (WFSB) -

Police are searching for whoever struck a bicyclist in Shelton Thursday night.

It happened near the intersection of Howe Avenue and Bridge Street, according to police.

They said they received a number of emergency calls that claimed the bicyclist was hurt.

Police said the victim, a 49-year-old man from Milford, continued to receive hospital treatment on Friday morning.

Eyewitnesses told police that the victim was struck by a black vehicle that was traveling south on Howe Avenue. After the incident, the driver fled over the Derby Shelton Bridge.

Police released a surveillance photo of the vehicle in hopes that someone might recognize it.
