Two men in their 20s were killed in a motor vehicle crash on Route 9 in Cromwell early Saturday morning.
A 1985 Chevrolet K-10 pickup truck and 1993 Buick LeSabre were driving on Route 9 near exit 19 around 1:15 a.m. The two vehicles were traveling on the southbound side when police said the pickup truck “sideswiped” LeSabre.
The pickup truck rolled over and crashed through a wire rope guard rail until it finally ended up in a grassy median, police said.
Police said the driver, 22-year-old Kevin Palozie, of Middletown, died at the scene. An ambulance rushed his passenger, 22-year-old Travis Cozzi, of East Hampton, to Hartford Hospital where he died a short time later.
Police said 60-year-old Rosemary Huntley-Camire, of Bristol, was taken to Middlesex Hospital with a “possible injury” and for “evaluation.”
The Connecticut State Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash. No charges have been filed in the crash.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Route 9 was closed between exits 19 and 16 until around 6:30 a.m.
