HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

The northbound side of Interstate 91 in Hartford was shut down for a brief period of time after a horse got loose near exit 34 on Saturday morning.

Police said the incident happened just before 10 a.m.

An off-duty and an auxiliary trooper worked together to quickly corral the horse that had gotten out of its trailer.

State police said the area was closed while the troopers worked to get the horse. The highway reopened around 10:30 a.m.

The horse suffered a "little road rash," but is expected to be OK, according to police.
