MILFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Interstate-95 northbound in Milford reopened late Monday morning after a tractor trailer fire shut it down for most of the morning.

State Police said the highway was closed for several hours while crews worked to clear and sand the scene. The fire happened between exits 33 and 34.

The Department of Transportation reported a 5 mile delay as far back as Bridgeport and exit 27 for much of the morning commute.

The truck was carrying eggs. There's no word on injuries.

Drivers were urged to use Route 1 or the Merritt Parkway for detours.
