BERLIN, CT (WFSB) -

Police are investigating reports of a stranger walking into Berlin homes through unlocked doors. However, investigators said they believe these burglaries are happening more often and are going unreported.

Police released new video of what is believed to be the suspect’s motor vehicle. The vehicle appears to have dents on the front driver’s side and rear bumper is missing.

There was a string of burglaries reported in Berlin last week and police said they all could be connected to one person.

The burglaries were reported on Stony Mill Lane as well as Spruce Brook and Savage Hill roads. But police believe there are more who haven't come forward.

Investigators took to social media and posted a warning on their Facebook page. They are asking anyone who sees a stranger in their home to call 911 right away.

Homeowners said they are taking the necessary precautions.

“We are locking the screen doors, locking the regular door, put a piece of wood in the slider and make sure if all the windows are locked,” one Berlin resident, who wished not to be identified, said.

The suspect’s alleged vehicle was spotted by Stamford police recently.

The suspect was in Stamford and police said a family found him in one of their upstairs bedrooms. They chased him out and told police he jumped into the car in the video.

Anyone with any information about the suspect is asked to call the Berlin Police Department at 860-828-7080.
