WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA (WFSB) -

The Eastern States Exposition, also known as the Big E, offered the media a look at the new food items on this year’s menu.

Eyewitness News took a trip up to West Springfield, MA on Tuesday for a taste test and food preview.

One of the draws at the Big E is the food. The tasting began at 10 a.m. at Storrowtown Tavern Terrace.

Delicacies such as the Craz-E Burger, the Big E cream puff and deep fried Jelly Beans, PBJs, candy bars and red velvet Oreos are still on the menu, but there are some new delights to enjoy.

On display Tuesday were the new turducken sandwich, deep fried apple pie, Sangria, dessert in a cone, baby back ribs and holy cows.

Anthony Martione of Coffee Break showed off his latest food creation, deep fried breakfast sausage on a stick.

“A lot of people like sausage. And I'm like what can you do that you can mass produce and it tastes really good,” he said. “So that's what I came up with."

Another new item on the fair menu is the garbage bowl, which includes fries, onion rings, a hot dog, a burger, bacon and fried onions

The Storrowtown Tavern also served up its cake ball, which is ice cream rolled in cake crumbs and a variety of toppings. The ice Cream Cake Ball is a favorite at the Big E.

More information on the menu and the Big E itself can be found on the event’s website here.

The Big E, which is the fifth largest fair in the nation, starts on Sept. 18 and runs until Oct. 4.
