HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Friends and family are planning a vigil following one of two homicides that happened within an 8 hours in Hartford.

William Prieto, 32, was shot multiple times in the torso at an apartment complex on South Prospect Street just before midnight on Monday. His death marked the city's 23rd homicide of 2015.

Police said he was targeted.

The vigil for him is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on South Prospect Street.

Eight hours after Prieto was shot, police said they responded to another homicide. Desmond Wright, 24, was shot in the head on Pershing Street Tuesday morning.

Wright was the city's 24th homicide, according to officers.

Police continue to look into whether the shootings were connected.

Prieto had a criminal record and Wright had a warrant out for violating probation.

Police said they're vetting that information to see if there's a connection to their deaths.
