3,000 bags of heroin seized, a dozen arrests made in trafficking operation

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

A joint effort by a number of law enforcement agencies led to the arrest of 12 people as part of a long-term heroin trafficking investigation.

Hartford police said the suspects were taken into custody on Thursday through warrants.

The warrants were executed at 2495 and 2505 Main Street in Hartford.

Police said they performed controlled purchases, conducted surveillance and looked at electronic monitoring.

Arrested were:

  1. John Colon, 24, narcotics and interfering with police.
  2. Joshua Stracham, 23, narcotics and interfering with police.
  3. Matthew Rodriguez, 27, narcotics and interfering with police.
  4. Hector Navedo, 23, narcotics and interfering with police.
  5. Rafael Martinez, 23, narcotics and interfering with police.
  6. Brandon Broughton, 23, narcotics and interfering with police.
  7. Jermaine Jenkins, 24, narcotics and interfering with police.
  8. Argenis Deleon, 24, narcotics and interfering with police.
  9. Naomi Alicea, 32, interfering with a search warrant and criminal attempt to commit assault on police.
  10. David Stark, 38, third-degree criminal trespass and possession of narcotics.
  11. Kevin Holmgren, 46, third-degree criminal trespass and possession of narcotics.
  12. Darrien Collier, 29, narcotics.

Police said they seized nearly 3,000 bags of heroin, nearly 100 bags of cocaine, 1.72 ounces of marijuana and more than $14,000 in suspected drug proceeds.

Hartford police and Homeland Security teams took part in the investigation and arrests.
