Three men were rescued after their canoe capsized off the shores of Westport on Saturday morning.
Police received a distress call about a capsized vessel just east of Cockenoe Island around 11:20 a.m. A passerby radioed in that they had spotted three people in the water.
Upon arrival, the Westport Police Marine Division located three men “floating in the water separated from their vessel,” police said.
After being pulled from the water, police said all three men, who were wearing life jackets, were “in good health.” Police said they were in the water for about 15 minutes.
Their 18' canoe was located by the Westport Police Marine Division and towed to Compo Marina.
Police said when the canoe capsized the water was “choppy.”
